pretty nosy, ain’t ya

A guy from a place with stuff to say.

What, you expected me to say something more dynamic? Fine.

I woo women with my sensuous and godlike trombone playing, I can pilot bicycles up severe inclines with unflagging speed, and I cook Thirty-Minute Brownies in twenty minutes. I am an expert in stucco, a veteran in love, and an outlaw in Peru.

No, not really.

I live in Chicago. I ride bicycles, drive VW TDIs, brew beer, take the greyhounds for a walk, go listen to local punk bands, have a valid FCC license to broadcast on amateur radio frequencies, YMCA licensed me as an Openwater II SCUBA diver, I bust out the tools to get my hands dirty around the house, on cars, on bicycles, on motorcycles and & occasionally I try to practice the banjo.

I like to write about booze over at the North American Booze Council site.

And unlike the author quoted above, I have gone to college.

  1. Scurvy, not sure if I met you at the GTG in Fond Du Lac at Dieselgrandads this past weekend (10/26/07). I just purchased my first TDI in May of this year. Got a used 2001 GLS Jetta with 35,000 miles on it. Since then, I have had the clutch replaced, as well as the timing belt (both at the dealer). I’ve now learned my lesson, and will have JasonTDI do all my work from now on. It’s worth the drive to know the job will be done right. The car is still stock, but I’m thinking about a chip upgrade, as well as a skid plate, and additional gauges. Any comments or thoughts would be appreciated.

  2. You probably did meet me. I was kinda busy, mostly with brake flushes and then with my DIY zerostart installation. Since you got the clutch replaced at the stealership I would assume they left the DMF stock, so no more than RC1. I have a Dieselgeek Panzer Plate on my Golf, which is fantastic. Gauges aren’t necessary unless you’re chipped or have nozzles (or both), in which case boost & EGT gauges should be on your list as well.
